The Human Energy Field (HEF) is a field of energy which surrounds our bodies, and is the manifestation of the universal energy field that is intimately involved with human life; the universal energy field is the field of energy which permeates the universe and is made up of what has variously been described as consciousness, orgone (The West), chi (China) and prana (India). The term the ‘Human Energy Field’ was coined by the healer Barbara Brennan in her books Hands of Light, Light Emerging and Core Light Healing; much of what I write here is heavily influenced by those books and I highly recommend them.
The HEF has a structure and when healers work with people they will enter and work with different levels of the field, in energetic resonance with the client. We are always constantly using our HEF whilst awake and asleep – it is an intrinsic part of how we live in the universe. The most well known levels of the field are the first seven:
Physical Plane
- Etheric Body – a template of the physical body, a structured level made up of constantly moving lines of light. In healing it pertains to the structure of the physical body; its template provides a form and direction for the physical body to grow into.
- Emotional Body – a fluid level made up of blocks or drifts of colour, often in continual motion. As feelings become energised through personal interaction the colours will separate into primary hues and these hues can vary from brilliant to dark depending on their clarity and the intensity of the emotions.
- Mental Body – a structured level composed of bright yellow lines of light in a grid. Our mental life almost always consists of habitual thought patterns or reflexes; these can become very powerful and affect the lines of the mental body.
Astral Plane (Bridge)
- Astral Body – A vast fluid level all about relationships to people, places, things and so on. This level can also consist of drifts of colour and is where stories are held and where we go when we dream. Working in this level has great potential address traumas and energy blocks and to learn to give and receive unconditional love
Spiritual Plane
- Etheric Template Body – A structured level, the template for the Etheric body (which is itself a template for the physical body). Symptoms of disease will often manifest first on this level. This is also the level of divine order, will and truth
- Celestial Body – The emotional level of the spiritual plane. Through this fluid level we experience the feelings of spiritual ecstasy which can be reached through meditation – so a level with a strong connection to spiritual feeling.
- Ketheric Template Body – the mental level of the spiritual plane, this level forms an outer boundary of sorts and contains all the other levels within it. The consciousness of this level is at one with the creative consciousness of the universe or the source of everything. It is the most resilient level and contains the main power current which nourishes the body.
There is a lot more to learn about theses levels but really this is best done through experiencing them and learning how to be aware of which one(s) you may be primarily operating from at any one moment. Understanding them purely intellectually is merely staying in the mental body!
